Chie Cruz

Chie Cruz was born in Manila and is the second daughter of Lydia Velasco and Ramon Cruz. She had her first solo exhibition in 1991 in West Gallery in Quezon City and she also exhibited at several local locations namely the Ayala Museum, Cultural Center of the Philippines, Museo Pambata, NCCA, West Gallery, Altromondo in group exhibits. She has also exhibited her works in Canada and the US.  She is also a member of Kasibulan, Art Wednesday and Florist Artist Manila. 

As with humans, there is a body language to flowers that sends a signal to the viewer of its current state: the sunflower turning towards the source of light or as in the sloping downward droop of a rose. It is a cryptic, enigmatic image that has shed all traces of vanity and glamour, and like an introverted being, has withdrawn into its own solitude.
