Biography
Giovanni VANNZ dela Rosa was born on October 3, 1970. He is the son of the well-known impressionist artist and educator Ibarra Y. dela Rosa. Giovanni began drawing at a very young age and participated in his first group show in 1976.
In 1991, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in Advertising from Far Eastern University. From 1991 to 2005, he taught Fine Arts at F.E.U. He also served as a Board member of the Art Association of the Philippines (AAP) from 2008 to 2010.
Currently, he is a full-time Visual Artist. Since 1976, he has participated in over 200 group exhibitions. Between 1992 and 2001, he held five solo exhibitions and has received 14 awards for his work.
Giovanni has mastered various styles including realism, surrealism, impressionism, whimsical art, and abstract painting. He works with different mediums such as pencil, ballpoint pen, ink, soft and oil pastels, watercolor, acrylics, oils, and mixed media.
Giovanni remains grounded in his approach to art. He believes that his artistry is a medium, and the talent within him is like an endless river that continuously flows towards perfection as both an artist and a person.
In his showcase of Surrealism, Giovanni portrays his magical vision and the power of dreams on canvas, particularly in his piece titled "Flowers of Maine," capturing the strange beauty of flowers.
