“You may be born with talent, but technique and style is learned and developed” cannot be farther from the truth for pen and ink artist Pat David. As the daughter of a design architect and a fellow artist, creating has manifested in various forms in her life growing up but her propensity for freehand drawing has always been something she comes back to. While other activities and interests took her to different directions in life; eventually, she was able to find her own style as a freehand artist.
In the last decade, she has slowly found her home in monochrome and blackwork arts. From there, she has been taking inspiration from different genres such as rangoli and mandala, tribal designs, abstract, zentangle and even florals; finally coming up with her own visual aesthetic.
Her recent pieces are a reflection of her own contemplations, which she has fully leaned into during periods of lockdowns. She looks forward to refining her technique and exploring more themes in the future.
