Biography
Since Anafe Nemenzo was in grade school, she has found herself different from others. She is happy just being with a pencil and a pad of paper. She used to draw on leaves, sand, walls, and even water by dropping melted crayons on it. She didn't have any ideas about materials like canvas and acrylic paints. She is the first artist in her family, so she is experimenting with those things. Many painters and paintings inspire her, but she looks at the artist's attitude, perspective, and heart. She considered Master Pablo Picasso for his point of view on life and art, Emmanuel Nim, a native of General Santos City, and Sam Penaso, a performer and visual artist.
Since she entered college as an interior design student, she has loved joining painting competitions. It was double pressure, yet it brought her contentment regarding art. After college, she focused more on her art and had many exhibits, created murals, got mentioned in art magazines and newspapers, and fortunately won several art competitions.
In 2017, it was a big break for her to exhibit internationally to represent the Philippines in Berlin, Germany. She was also interviewed by Antenne Frankfurt in Frankfurt, Germany. Since then, she has been able to exhibit in Milan, Italy; Jakarta, Indonesia; Amsterdam, Netherlands; and Cologne, Germany, through Transwing Art Gallery. One of the most prominent features of all of her works is that they focus on people, both groups and individuals, in motion.
Finding inspiration is not difficult; it is all around her. All she has to do is be observant. Her heart and hand are connected and act as one. Whatever her heart tells her, she just follows it and keeps on painting.
