Biography
Annie C. Villasin-Young is a multifaceted lifelong learner who sees endless artistic possibilities. She is currently an emerging artist in the local visual art scene, but she has already joined 10 group art exhibits in just about a year since 2025 — though she is not entirely new to the world of art and design. An AB-Journalism graduate of University of Santo Tomas in Manila, she has written numerous feature articles on Arts & Culture (including interviews with prominent artists in different fields), published in the national broadsheet Malaya newspaper (now Malaya Business Insight) and BusinessDay magazine (defunct).
She has been a drawing enthusiast since childhood, most importantly as Staff Artist of The Theresian magazine, the student publication of her alma mater St. Theresa’s College, Q.C. Annie had also been into balloon decorating, cake designing, and scented crafts as a business enthusiast. Moreover, she always loves reading about the arts as a bibliophile with a thousand-book collection and as a bookseller.
Annie has no formal training in Fine Arts and continues to learn drawing and painting on her own, with inspiration from art masters of the old world and the new. She joined the basic art workshop of Maestro Fernando Sena in the year 2000, but it was in March 2025 when she pursued her interest in drawing and painting and started being active in the local art scene. In 2025, she joined art workshops by another art maestro Julius Legaspi. She also learned about plein air through art masters Erwin Mallari and Jun Reena. Since then, Annie has joined several activities as a member or guest artist of different art groups and art galleries, including Senaskuela, The Outdoor Archivists, Philippine Pastel Artists, Urban Sketchers-Quezon City, Plein Air Society, Coffee Artiste PH, Filipino Portrait Artists Guild, TTRAPP, Gateway Gallery, and Drybrush Gallery, among others.
Her first sold painting is Bridge to Forever from her Mindseeker™ series. Other painting series include Renaissance Soul® and Fluorescence.
Annie is looking forward to learning more and accomplishing more artworks (in watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, charcoal, and mixed media, with calligraphy and coffee art, among others) in the years to come. She gains creative inspiration from different themes — especially in the country’s natural and cultural heritage, as well as her own personal heritage — and from all the people, including fellow artists, she continually meets along the way. That it, while inspiring others as well — with love, flexibility, and trust.
