Biography
Breech Mayo's introduction to the world of the arts started at an early age, when she was inspired by her sibling's art projects. Growing up, she has been part of the San Pablo City art scene from grade school to high school, where she participated in and won several poster-making, painting, and editorial cartooning competitions both within and outside the city. Through these experiences, she has been mentored by the city's great artists, which has allowed her to join local exhibitions in Metro Manila.
Her art and use of color schemes have always resonated with her emotions; they can be intensely vibrant or solemn and subdued. The forms and flows in her artwork are based on her perception of the world around her and how it has influenced her. Her range of work includes realistic depictions of the natural world, as well as pieces with a sense of pop and surrealism, using acrylic, watercolor, and oil as her mediums. As she is mostly self-taught and mentored, she pursued an applied arts course to further her understanding and application of her passion.
Currently, she has a background in interior design, having graduated from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. During her studies, she honed her skills and excelled in various media, particularly watercolor renderings. She was an active member of the Philippine Guild of Watercolorists and participated in exhibitions in Metro Manila, such as the Narrative of Colors, the group's annual national exhibit. During this time, she also expanded her knowledge of art concepts, theories, and styles. Her extracurricular activities included art outreach community programs and teaching rendering styles through her organizations, while also tutoring art on the side.
For the past four years, she has worked as a sales designer for international furnishing brands, where she advised and directed the furniture, art, and space layout for high-end clientele homes. However, she has recently taken a hiatus from corporate life to reconnect with her passion for creating, inspiring, and teaching the next generation in a local art studio.
