Biography
Dorey Balisi, born in Tuguegarao City in the region of Cagayan Valley, is an architect by profession but has a profound love for painting. She is a self-taught artist who learns by observing and understanding the strokes and compositions of art pieces displayed in galleries she visits. She often works with acrylic paint, and her work draws inspiration from the genuine forms and patterns found in nature. Her style is influenced by Gustav Klimt's decorative and biomorphic details, as well as pointillism, combining original art, doodling, and scribbling to create abstract paintings. However, she is mostly influenced by the pointillism style, which she incorporates into her work to create a figurative abstract with a beaded-like texture.
Art is her serenity, allowing the viewer's eyes to travel into the canvas with the playful use of pigments and their intensity. The beaded-like, textured style of painting enhances this experience. When she paints, it brings her both serenity and joy, and she expresses various emotions that overflow onto the canvas. The burst of colors and the flow of curves give her a sense of calmness and excitement. Depending on her state of mind while painting, she portrays her style in two different ways. Sometimes, she deeply meditates with patterns and colors, and other times, she follows impulsive thoughts, resulting in unexpected outcomes. With each art piece, she discovers a new way to enhance her own technique.
Dorey's love for creation and innovation extends beyond architecture and painting. She also explores cooking, chocolate making, poetry, bamboo design and construction, farming, crafting, jewelry making, and many other hobbies. Her passion for these activities is deeply rooted in the depths of her soul.
Her art serves as a platform to glorify the Almighty for the God-given talents and skills she possesses. She believes that these gifts should be shared with everyone. It is her mission to showcase God's wonderful creation and inspire others to do the same, not only in the context of art but in their own lives.
