Most of Jill’s work has always been focused on combining human body parts with animal, plant and other non-human components to create "monsters".
The concept behind these kinds of monsters is usually readily understood when the entire body of the result of the combination is presented, e.g. Viewers understand right away that a monster is a mermaid if they see its entire body with the tail. They may not recognise the sitter / subject of the portrait as such if only its top half is presented.
Many of the monsters in Jill’s work also sport great, big smiles. While she has been told that her work "would have been art if it wasn't smiling", Jill would also like to challenge that opinion with this series.
