Biography
Rosalio “Jun” Tuplano Jr. is an award-winning realist painter whose works pay tribute to the dignity,
resilience, and quiet heroism of everyday life. A full-time artist and part-time art teacher, Tuplano is known
for his disciplined craftsmanship, emotional sensitivity, and deep respect for his subjects.
A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a licensed board passer, Tuplano’s technical
background strongly informs his artistic practice. The precision, patience, and problem-solving inherent in
engineering are evident in his meticulous approach to realism—particularly in his mastery of form,
proportion, and light. Despite having no formal academic training in fine arts, his commitment to excellence
and continuous learning has earned him multiple awards and recognition in the art community.
Tuplano’s favorite subjects are laborers and street workers—shoe cleaners, ice cream vendors, street and
soybean vendors, and other hardworking individuals often overlooked in daily life. Through oil painting, his
preferred medium, he captures not only their physical likeness but also their humanity, strength, and quiet
pride. His works elevate ordinary moments into powerful narratives of perseverance and social realism.
In addition to genre scenes, Tuplano also paints portraits, applying the same sensitivity and realism to reveal
character and inner presence. His paintings are grounded in careful observation, subtle tonal variations, and
a sincere emotional connection to his subjects.
While self-taught, Tuplano honed his skills through short art sessions under Master Artist Fernando Sena,
who also serves as his mentor. This guidance helped refine his artistic voice while allowing him to develop
an independent, authentic style rooted in realism and lived experience.
Today, Rosalio “Jun” Tuplano Jr. continues to create compelling works that honor labor, dignity, and the
beauty of honest work—standing as a testament to the power of passion, discipline, and lifelong dedication
to art.
