Biography
Keiye Miranda holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in Studio Arts from the University of the Philippines in 1998. She belongs to the third generation of artists in Angono, who have made significant contributions to the art history of the area. Keiye is the daughter of Nemi Miranda, also known as Nemiranda, the Father of Imaginative Figurism. In 1998, she became associated with Surrounded by Water, an art space that was among the first independent and artist-run spaces in Angono and Manila. She is also a member of the Neo-Angono Artists Collective, which was established in 2004 and introduced new perceptions and expressions to the Angono art scene. Currently, Keiye serves as the president of the Neo-Angono Artists Collective. In September 2018, she played a key role in establishing the Giant Dwarf Art Space in Angono, which aims to showcase young and emerging artists in the industry.
Keiye's artwork captures her fascination with the transfiguration of water. Her paintings explore the fluid states and the ways in which the immersion and submersion of images of people and objects can alter the visual image. The flowing water serves as an element of defamiliarization, creating an intriguing ambiguity between the real and the unreal, and presenting new ways of encountering reality. The unpredictability and movement of water have captivated her, leading her to explore the layers of things and delve beneath the surface.
Since 1991, Keiye has participated in numerous group exhibitions both locally and internationally. She has also held solo exhibitions since 1996.
