Maria Melissa P. Sangoyo
Melissa sees abstract art as a way to freely express herself and communicate emotions that words sometimes cannot. She creates minimalist artwork to reflect strength, peace, and clarity in a world that often feels overwhelming and chaotic. Her faith deeply influences her creative process, and she sees art as a bridge between the natural and spiritual worlds. More than anything, she hopes her work leads people to reflect on the beauty and wisdom of the Ultimate Master Artist, inspiring a deeper connection with Him.
She won the second place for the non-figurative category of the Sining Filipina National Art Competition 2024 by BDO and Zonta Club of Makati & Environs. She has actively taken part in diverse group exhibitions hosted by contemporary art galleries.
The trials that she endured were pivotal to how God stimulated her artistic abilities. She was diagnosed with cancer last March 2021 and having undergone surgery and chemotherapy, painting helped her go through one of the most challenging times in her life.
