Biography
Ma. Melissa Sangoyo believes that abstract art provides her with a platform for unrestricted self-expression. Her minimalist artistic pursuits involve delving into the realms of colors, shapes, patterns, and lines—a journey that conveys meanings both simple and profound. Along with being an artist, she is a full-time campus missionary, and through her work, she seeks to forge connections between the natural and the spiritual with the intent to provide a sense of simplicity and balance and primarily to point people to the Ultimate Master Artist.
Sangoyo holds a degree in Electronics Engineering from Mapua University and has actively taken part in diverse group exhibitions hosted by contemporary art galleries. She attained second place in the non-figurative category of the esteemed Sining Filipina National Art Competition 2024. Some of her works were exhibited and sold at Art In The Park Makati, ArtisteSpace Gallery, Blanco Art Gallery, 1159 Creative Space Gallery, Drybrush Gallery, Cevio Art Haus, Adamson University Art Gallery, Newport Mall Pasay, Fora Mall Tagaytay City, and Momo Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, among others. She is one of the selected artists who finished Art Show Philippines’ third online mentoring program, aimed at furthering her technical and professional development as an artist.
The trials that she endured were pivotal to how God stimulated her artistic abilities. She was diagnosed with cancer in March 2021, and having undergone surgery and chemotherapy, painting helped her go through one of the most challenging times in her life.
