Biography
A true Bikolana , Maria was born in Daraga, Albay Philippines. Maria's interest in the art heightened even after high school that she enrolled in Fine Arts Major in Advertising at the University of Sto. Tomas Manila. Worked at various multinational companies that handled major brands in Advertising, an accomplished Art Director to running her own Design Studio.
Inspired by the works of acclaimed potter Jon Pettyjon that she started to sculpt, thus making her love for ceramics eternal. Maria's works are categorized as Hand-Built, Fired Stoneware. Her works have an impression that some describe as allegorical, works that weave an otherworldly spell with their embellishments of sea glass, botanical accents, and colors both of the forest and the sea, a trademark of a coral-esque treatments that are so distinct in her works.
”Diwata Community was a semi-finalist in the 2013 Metro Bank Art and design Excellence. “Blue Hope” became a National Finalist in the MADE Sculpture Competition 2017. Enjoyed Ceramic Exchange Program in Korea.
Maria's works includes Filipino children at play series, inspired by her adventurous nature, and the Whimsical Circus Series .
