Biography
Pauline Abayon was a dentist in 2011 when she began her art journey as a student of renowned-artist and
teacher Maestro Fernando B. Sena at the UP Vargas Museum in Diliman, Quezon City. Encouraged by what
she learned in just a few sessions of Mr. Sena’s beginner’s workshop, she decided to test her skills in the UP
College of Fine Arts Talent Determination Test for the school year 2011, and enrolled in the four-year BFA
Painting program upon admission. She graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman, College of
Fine Arts in 2015. She worked as assistant to a number of artists and participated in group shows while
continuing to practice as a dentist in her father’s dental clinic. While on vacation in 2012, she attended oil
painting classes held by artist Patricia Tribastone in Webster, New York. In 2024 she resumed her advanced
art lessons with Mr. Sena, and became part of his team of teaching assistants. She continues to learn art
techniques by attending sessions organized by various art groups including The Travelling Pastel Project
(TRRAPP), Philippine Pastel Artists and Plein Air Society.
She earned her DDM degree at the UP Manila College of Dentistry in 2004 and ranked 2
nd in the May 2005
Dentist Licensure Exam. Her experience with dental materials (such as resin and plaster) is a valuable
addition to her creative toolbox.
