Ren Hendrick Reyes grew up in Angono, Rizal, surrounded by the influence of master painters and sculptors who shaped the town’s cultural identity. Immersed in this environment, he quietly developed his craft through local ateliers and workshops, eventually becoming active in group exhibitions that highlight Angono’s diverse artistic voices. His works often feature bold colors, layered textures, and symbolic imagery, blending traditional Filipino motifs with contemporary abstraction. This approach allows him to honor the heritage of Angono while contributing to the evolving identity of modern Filipino art.
Reyes has participated in exhibitions organized by the Angono Ateliers Association, the town’s oldest art group, and has also been featured in collective shows at venues such as SM Angono Art Walk and Galeria Perlita. These opportunities have allowed him to present his paintings alongside senior artists and peers, experiences he regards with gratitude. His involvement in these projects reflects his commitment to community-based art, a hallmark of Angono’s cultural tradition.
His paintings often explore themes of everyday life, heritage, and identity, rendered with a contemporary sensibility that appeals to both local and wider audiences. By incorporating elements of abstraction and symbolism, Reyes creates works that invite reflection on cultural continuity while embracing modern experimentation.
Today, Ren Hendrick Reyes is recognized as one of Angono’s promising contemporary voices. He remains humble about his achievements, viewing his contributions as part of a larger collective effort to sustain Angono’s artistic heritage.
