Biography
Bringing his imagination to three-dimensional reality is Ronald Castrillo's specialty. Castrillo, the hand behind some of the most admired and famous sculptures seen in the country, has taken Pinoy sculptures to another level. His ability to manipulate brass, bronze, steel, iron, and any other metal into wonderfully crafty pieces of art makes him one of the premier sculptors of his generation. Ronald, an artist from a young age, born on June 3, 1964. His parents, Aurea and Amado Castrillo, a great writer, illustrator, and sculptor, influenced him to begin training and developing his art skills in their family workshop in Makati at an early age of ten. Having a father whose work is exceptional craftsmanship at its finest, Ronald had a great start. With simple drawings and sketches guided by his father, he shaped his skills into more refined abilities, which led to sculpting. Inspired by the world around him, Castrillo carefully plans a strategy to bring his imagination to life. Shaping metal into beautiful lines and curves. He builds artwork that people can touch and feel in admiration. He believes that great sculptures should be conceived through a great idea and executed to perfection after careful planning guided by technical know-how. His modern sculptures have featured in documents like those in EDSA and many other places and city centers.
With a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering Major in Aircraft Design from PATTS School of Aeronautics, Castrillo perfectly combines his artistic process and technical knowledge to create unrivaled sculptures and pieces of art. This pioneer of Pinoy sculpting ensures that the discipline is in good hands.
