Biography
Wilfredo Legaspi Rufon, hailing from Marikina and raised in Antique, triumphed over a challenging upbringing marked by parental separation and financial adversity. Despite these formidable hurdles, he tenaciously forged ahead, harnessing the rustic charm of his provincial surroundings to nurture his innate artistic flair. Undeterred by the absence of support, his undeniable talent served as the propellant for his artistic journey.
Upon completing his high school education in Antique, Rufon made his way to Manila, where he immersed himself in an apprenticeship at a glass etching company, reigniting the flames of his artistic fervor. Encouraged by kindred spirits in his field, Rufon embraced various professional pursuits before eventually settling in Puerto Galera, where serendipity led him to his life partner, Elisa Certeza, and the establishment of a new chapter in his life. His choice to make a home in this captivating locale was driven by the promise it held for nurturing his creative endeavors.
Rufon has garnered acclaim for his captivating depictions of underwater landscapes, skillfully capturing the mesmerizing beauty and enigmatic essence of marine ecosystems. His adept manipulation of paint imbues his works with a palpable essence, breathing life into the submerged realm with vibrant hues set against serene azure backgrounds.
Driven by a conscious desire to contribute to the preservation of natural resources, Rufon endeavors to cultivate a profound appreciation for the Philippines' natural resources through his artistry. Firmly committed to his mission, he aims to inspire fellow Filipinos to cherish and safeguard the precious natural treasures that adorn their homeland.
