Biography
Zoe Isabel Policarpio, also going by ZIP, is a Filipino visual artist who specializes in painting, illustration, digital art, and photography. Born in 1995 in Makati City, she grew up immersed in various forms of creative expression, leaning toward the visual arts later on in high school. During the four years under the Fine Arts Painting program at the University of Santo Tomas, she was consistently included in the Dean’s List, and graduated Cum Laude in 2016. After graduation, she discovered her style being profoundly influenced by works of Sanso, Hiroyuki Doi, Georgia O’Keefe, Jackson Pollock, Laurie Lipton, and Jose Manuel Ciria.
Increasingly leaning towards organic, twisted line work, evoking decaying trees and foliage, the figures in her works are attempts at capturing a connection with nature that she has lost in the trappings of the urban jungle, as well as the strange and brutal honesty which traces fears that lie beneath the aesthetically pretty.
Zoe has exhibited at Sining Kamalig Art Gallery, Metro Gallery, Boston Gallery, Ayala Artist Space, J Studio, Art Camp, Altro Mondo, and more. In 2022, she had her first solo exhibit at Finale Art File, entitled Passage.
