Justine Velasquez is currently working as a Senior Architectural and Landscape Designer in an international company in Hong Kong aside from pursuing a part-time career as an artist. He has been creating art since childhood and even used his talent to earn some money when he was in secondary school and accepted projects in poster, design, editorial cartooning, and mural painting.
There was a blessing to the numbing boredom Justine Velasquez faced in his corporate job; it drove him to seek respite in art. The pursuit that was merely an escape turned into a full-fledged passion, creating the acclaimed artist we see before us today.
Upon the discovery of fluid art, Velasquez began working predominantly with epoxy resin and textural mixed media. Rarely using an easel or a brush, his deep connection to the ocean is evident in every piece he creates, as he skilfully captures the essence of his native Philippines' coastal beauty. Each “slice” of the ocean is brought to life by the gradient shades of deep blue and turquoise.
Velasquez finds a relaxing way to relieve stress by viewing the sea and has found in the most inspiring and rewarding way to express its meaning and value in his canvas. Most of his works involved flow art technique naturally and controlled. His background in landscape architecture reflects in his works from landscape and seascape scenes, abstract figurative forms, and topography. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Netherlands, Switzerland, USA, and UK.
