Lon was born in Manila, as the first child of Lydia Velaso and Ramon Cruz. She was raised in Navotas and studied at San Jose Academy de Navotas for her elementary and secondary education.
Her love and appreciation for art had started early. Her grandfather, Jose Velasco, used to work alongside Botong Francisco as set designer for LVN pictures. Her father was an Art Director of Metropolitan Theater and her Mother used to be an art director for different agencies.
After completing her degree in Bachelor of Science of Inland Fisheries in UP Diliman, she worked as a Production Assistant/Manager for TV Commercials and Audio Visuals. Then moved up as Operations Manager for Lightmoves Photo Design, Incorporated. In her years with TV Commercial, Audio Visual and Print Production, she had the opportunity to work with well loved Filipino brands like Jollibee, Bench, Coke, San Miguel Corporation, CMC, Smart Communications and Globe telecoms.
Five years ago, she turned to art as therapy from depression. Giving new life and meaning onto old, broken and discarded items; thus fueling her new passion to transform them into works of art. Her love of the Masters gave inspiration to pay homage to them.
Her works are truly a labor of love and creativity – evident in the time it takes to make one artwork. From color matching to precise placement of each piece, to make it extraordinary. Each artwork has a different set of elements that makes them distinctive; none an exact copy of other work.
