Description
“Takipsilim exhibits the image of an exercise of push and pull between foreboding desolation and a show of steadfast independence of the subject in the midst of darkness. The dark horizon triggers the interest of the viewer’s thought process on what lies ahead for the sleeping woman on the couch draped with red cloth. The setting presents an incoming storm in the woman’s dream.” - Ariel Villalobos, drybrush Gallery Artist

“Takipsilim gives the impression of isolation and a raw sense of being. From the folds of the red cloth on the couch to the soft brushstrokes to create the misty sky, the whole artwork uses dramatic elements. The use of dark colors with a red accent creates a striking image that evokes its viewers to think about what they are viewing. The work also has an aspect of mystery, allowing its viewers to be involved in the interpretation of the work.” - Mariel Yulo, drybrush Gallery Curator
"When we picture the word takipsilim or “twilight” in English translation, we tend to imagine various hues from red to blue scattering in the sky. But these colors are not visible in Ricahuerta’s painting. Instead, Ricahuerta displays a subtle complexity on his palette selection by incorporating a quiet and still color of grays with the boldest and most aggressive color, red." - Sara Martinez, drybrush Gallery Store Manager
