Born in 1976 in Bato, Camarines Sur, Norberto Villez was already fascinated with the illustrations in Filipino comic books. He would use pavement as his drawing board, and broken pieces from pots and white stones were his medium, as he would imitate his idols' illustrations. He was inspired by Fernando Amorsolo and went on to take up Fine Arts at FEU.
Villez was unable to graduate, but he kept his passion alive by taking workshops under notable artist Pol Mesina Jr. He is also a member of Sining Kulay at Tinta (SIKAT), a group headed by Pol Mesina Jr. that has made him more active in painting. After a series of group exhibits, Norberto held his first solo art show at the GT Towers in Makati.
Description
"There is a natural flow in the water, a flowing of time, and an unseen flowing in the child's mind or inner experience. Time passes without her noticing because she is lost in the simple moment. What has been captured is a deep and pure experience of peace and freedom."
