Paul Dimalanta was born on June 22, 1950 here in Manila, the city he knows intimately for here is where he achieved fame as an art student in the Philippine Women's University and finally and ultimately where his dreams were fulfilled as an accomplished artist, skilled designer and likewise a well known painter.
Wayback in Calauag. Quezon where his parents hailed from, Paul Dimalanta traced back his roots and lived there for a while. His father a businessman saw lucky stars in the skies and prophesized that someday his son would be a great artist. Paul studied there for two years and didn't take long to create "Kamay ni Hesus" which up to now is a tourist attraction in Quezon. Paul astonished the travellers on the part of the country for the finesse of his art work. It was among his first major "bras" which is very popular in Quezon nowadays, "Kamay ni Hesus" is among his crowning glories.
Paul Dimalanta was also commissioned to make a mural at the Gandara Church in Samar and from thereon he commenced to do more work than he can finish, he did art work in the movie industry under the directorships of the Director Eddie Romero and Cirio H. Santiago of the Premiere Productions. He was also asked to do the set designs for the movie"Last Chance”, an American film.
From 1976 to 1985 he was a professor of the PWU
College of Fine Arts where he impressed many for his artistic genius. The honors that Paul received and achieved are countless like the stars. Paul Dimalanta has fulfilled the dreams of his parents. Today, he is Caluag. Quezon's artistic folk hero. He is also the pride of Philippine Women's University and of course the City of Manila.
Paul Dimalanta has fulfilled the prophesy of the stars, he now enjoys his success and esteem to know that his artworks are being enjoyed not only here but across the oceans and he deserves every inch of it.
