Realist Rodolfo Salazar, or "Rodel" as he is often called, is a versatile artist who uses vivid colors in his artworks in an attractive way. His works primarily include still life, portraits, landscapes, seascapes, heritage scenes, and social realism as his subjects, utilizing different mediums, but he prefers watercolor the most. He adds vivid rendering colors, his own unique style, and personal touch to catch viewers' eyes.
Rodel pursued Fine Arts at the Philippine Women's University and also studied Architectural Fine Arts at the Manuel L. Quezon University, which heightened his passion for the arts. He won awards and garnered recognition in painting competitions during his college days. He is a member of the Philippine Guild of Watercolorists and the Ace of Arts group. He was also a semi-finalist out of 3,000 entries in the 500 Quincentennial Painting Competition 2020 held in Cebu City. Additionally, he achieved 1st Place at the Debri Art Gallery "Portrait Competition Online" and participated in the exhibition "Kulay sa Tubig," recognized as the country's most prestigious watercolor competition by Gallery Genesis.
One of his pieces was chosen for the online 2021 Japan International Watercolor Institute in Niigata, Japan. He was a juried finalist for the exhibition "Hues of Hope," sponsored by the Philippine Guild of Watercolorists, held at "Langis at Tubig" in LRI Design Plaza/Galerya Amalia.
Currently, he continues to achieve success in online international watercolor competitions, such as securing 1st place in the IWS Suriname competition and having his artworks featured on the cover of their art magazine. He also received an honorable mention in the IWS_Essen, Ruhr Germany competition and emerged as the 1st place winner in the "Pulse of Art" competition organized by IWS Turkey. Furthermore, he obtained certification from IWS Canada for their Aroma Coffee Art Competition, to name a few accomplishments. He always starts with a prayer whenever he begins his painting and thanks God Almighty for the talent bestowed upon him by the Creator.
