Born to the Velasco family of artists, Tessie was naturally drawn to the world of art. She graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from FEATI University, and worked as a designer for a well-known female apparel company and for a porcelain/china manufacturer.
It is not unexpected then, that she began painting full-time. Her subjects mainly are flowers, and women. While her overall style skewed to classical realism, her use of bold strokes in brilliant colors, coupled with hazy and gentle edging, gives her paintings an impressionist touch. Her flowers are both delicate and raw, while her women are graceful yet fearless. Her works are pretty much straightforward - devoid of gimmickry or subterfuge.
Tessie is an active member of the Saturday Group of Artist since 2002, and has participated in the group's annual anniversary exhibitions. She also had several one-woman shows, and took part in art festivals like Art at the Plaza and Art Blast. In 2012, she joined her sisters for the family show "Siete Marias Blood Art".
